About Five Points

Unlike the older historical districts, Five Points was very much a working-class neighborhood. Many believe it is Huntsville's first suburb. This history can be seen in the street grid and rear service alleys that made walking to work and shopping easy and safe. Five Points was annexed into the city in 1925 and established as a historic district in 1999. Craftsman style bungalows are what you will find in the older parts of the area. However, the district includes Victorian, Cape Cod and Ranch style homes from about 1920-1955. The district lies north of Maple Hill Cemetery and east of Old Town.

Community

Five Points is one of Huntsville's historic neighborhoods, incorporated in 1892. It encompasses several districts, including Lincoln Village, Merrimack, and Monte Sano. Small businesses are the heart of this neighborhood.

Schools and Education

Providence Classical School and New Century Technology High School are located in Five Points, and the area is also serviced by Huntsville High School, Huntsville Junior High, and Blossomwood Elementary.

Recreation and Culture

Located so close to Monte Sano, plenty of hiking is available in the Five Points area. You can also walk around the center of Five Points and shop at a lot of the small businesses to get a sense of the strong community.

Economics and Infrastructure

Five Points has been on the National Register of Historic Places since August 20th, 2012.It strives to meet that designation, as well as push for advancements in green technology.
